We Want To Hear From You!

We love books here at From the Mixed-Up Files. But we also love helping our readers find just what it is they are searching for. Want to learn more about an author? Need help searching for a specific book? Want info to help you navigate the new Common Core?

We’re here to help!

But in order to help, we have to know your needs. So today we are giving you a chance to share your thoughts with us.  Do you have a great booklist idea you’d like to see us tackle?  Do you know of an author you’d like to see us feature? Do you want to see a link added to one of our many resource pages? Now is your chance to tell us!

Please leave a comment if there is anything you’ve been hoping we’d tackle on this site, or send us an email at msfishby at fromthemixedupfiles dot com.  We value your feedback, so feel free to share suggestions about this site as well. Let us know what we’re doing right, so we’ll be encouraged to continue those projects. If you’d like to see us improve areas or add sections to this site, we’d love to hear those ideas, too.

You have the floor, dear readers.

  1. I can’t top Jill’s suggestions, I certainly would enjoy those posts. I really like the idea of interviewing those writers that have a series out.

    • @Brenda, Thanks, Brenda. We appreciate the feedback!

  2. Howdy,

We need your help and we’re not too proud to admit it.

Did you ever wonder what grandparents really got up to when they were younger?
Have you ever seen a Mexican Barking spider?
Do you know who the first man to walk on Mars was?
Find the answers to all of these questions along with why so many N.A.S.A scientists are bald and just why American bridges are so strong, inside this wonderful new book.

  3. I’d like to see topics for middle grade/YA authors. Anything in general.

I agree with Joyce Magnin’s post above. And I’ve read her books. CAKE just released and it’s a witty, poignant story with excellent illustrations. It’s for middle grade readers, but I enjoyed it as an adult. It’s worth your time to read, as is Carrying Mason. Anyone who wants to write for the middle grade audience should read these books as excellent examples of how it’s done and to spend some real enjoyable reading time.

    Thanks for all you do!

    • @Pam Halter, Thanks for the suggestions, Pam! And for the glowing recommendation of Joyce’s books, too.

  4. Hey Guys, I first have to tell you that I love this site. I visit every day and have gained much already. As the author of two MG novels and seven adult novels I have to say that one of the toughest codes to crack in all of this is How to Market MG books. Both of my MG novels have received excellent reviews including a Kirkus Star and yet my sales remain dismal. I would also like to see info on school visits and how to get in and types of programs MG authors can do. I would love to help with this becuase as I said I think this is one of the top sites for MG writers. Perhaps stuff on the common core and what that means for those of us who include study guides with our books. Thanks again, I love this place.

    • @Joyce Magnin, Joyce, thank you for the suggestion on marketing MG. And I’m sorry to hear about your sales. May they rise soon!

And thanks for visiting us every day. That means a lot to us.

  5. Oh and a couple other things I wanted to add:

    – maybe conferences or free sites/resources/anything for Canadians also!

    – and something I noticed on YA Highway that I think would be intriguing for a MG spin (to organize how to navigate MG materials online in concise spots…I get easily…overwhelmed 🙂

Just ideas only. I think your site is great fun already.

  6. How about writing conferences going on? For example, Utah’s Writing and Illustrating for Young Readers, WIFYR, is coming up in June. It’s a great workshop. What are other conferences or workshops people may want to attend?

    • @Bruce Luck, Good suggestion, Bruce! I think we did a post once about conferences, but we could certainly add to the short list we supplied.

  7. Hmm..so many thoughts…and only “ideas” so may not be doable or whatever..but just throwing out some stuff:
    – interviews with authors on a “day in the life” (?)
    – maybe recommendations that you think every aspiring MG writer author ought to read (latest releases, classics, chapter books, PB’s, upper and lower MG, YA, etc)
    – reflections on series books and maybe interviews from those writers
    – ideas on how a completely new (blank resume) person can get some freelance or maybe even work for hire?
    – tips on how to simplify the organization and writing system
    – encouragement that a person can write even with a scattered brain 🙂
    – stories of inspiration

Proabably a lot and maybe none of these make so sense…just thinking off top of my head 🙂
