Chill Out

Chill out this summer with frozen drinks and desserts. Try one of these original recipes by kids just like you, click on the links to find hot-weather favorites, or make up one of your own. Don’t forget to name it!

 

 

Island Paradise—by Dawn

 

Add one banana, sliced; ½ cup fresh pineapple, 1 cup frozen strawberries, 1 cup frozen mango, and one can of coconut milk into a blender. Blend until smooth. Serve in frosted mugs with a lemon or lime slice and a paper umbrella for a taste of the tropics!

 

 

Lemon-Better—By Eileen

Fill blender half full with homemade lemonade. Add about 6 ice cubes. Add 1 cup frozen raspberries. Serve in tall glasses with a lemon slice garnish.

 

 

Choco-Berry Shake—Arin

 

Add five scoops of vanilla frozen yoghurt, 1 cup chocolate milk, 6 ice cubes, 1 cup frozen raspberries, and ¼ cup chocolate sauce into a blender. Blend until smooth. Serve in frosted glasses with a dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkle of mini chocolate chips.

 

 

 

Strawberry Blastas—Piper    

 

Wash and slice in half one carton of fresh strawberries. Place in blender. Add 8-10 ice cubes, the juice of one lemon, and ½ cup sugar. Blend until ice is crushed. Garnish with a mint sprig.

 

 

 

Orange Creamsicle Delight—Ben

 

Dump one can of frozen orange juice into blender. Add about five scoops of vanilla frozen yoghurt, a few ice cubes, and a splash of milk. Blend until milkshake-smooth.

 

*Note: to frost glasses, quickly rinse and put in freezer for 10-15 minutes.
